Description

Together with CIP Marketing, we developed a flexible display system designed to evolve throughout the different phases of the adidas World Cup campaign.

As products and activations changed, the retail environment needed to adjust with them. Rather than creating new displays for every phase, we developed a system that could be reconfigured, re-dressed and reused using the same core components.

Flexible display system for changing campaign needs

At the heart of the solution is a podium base combined with a standardized tube framework.

By simply repositioning the tubes within the podium, the same components can form a graphic tower, a product display or a clothing rack. New graphics can be added around the structure to completely change its expression, while products and accessories can be repositioned as the campaign evolves.

This meant that the same system could support multiple campaign phases simply by changing its configuration and graphics.

Easy-to-assemble retail displays for fast rollout

Flexibility was important, but so was making the system easy for store staff to assemble and adapt.

The framework is assembled using plastic joints, gently secured with basic tools. Components were designed for efficient production and flat-pack transportation, making the solution easier to ship, assemble, take apart and rebuild in a new configuration.

A simple construction that creates a surprising number of possibilities.

Dedicated football displays

The official match ball also needed a presentation of its own.

We developed a series of playful displays that gave retailers different ways to feature the ball within the concept. One flexible feature could display either a football or a football boot, simply by moving the top section up or down.

By making even the smaller components multifunctional, retailers gained more ways to vary product presentation while continuing to work with the same system.

A reusable system for future retail activations

The modular approach has also allowed the core components of the system to move beyond the original World Cup concept.

With a new graphic layer and a different configuration, the same construction principles and components have been used for other adidas activations, including HYROX.

What started as a solution for one campaign became a flexible toolkit designed not only for one moment, but for whatever comes next.
